William Kennedy Obituary

William A. Kennedy, 97, passed away peacefully at Ghent Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on December 16, 2023. The son of William E. and Hazel (Slade) Kennedy, he was born November 23, 1926 in Ridgewood, New Jersey.   As a youth, he enjoyed tennis, ice hockey and skiing.  He attended Cornell and Columbia Universities and graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  He worked for Grumman Aerospace as an Administrative Engineer, and was proud of his contribution to the Apollo 11 program, which landed the first humans on the moon.  He enjoyed fishing for flounder from the family boat, "Bottomland". He was also an avid New York Islander’s fan.  Bill will be remembered for his sense of humor and his dedication to his family, especially his grandchildren.

Bill is survived by his three children, William E. Kennedy, John (Margaret) Kennedy and Beth S. Kennedy (Patrick Noone);  six loving grandchildren, Andrew (Rebecca), Michael, Leilani (Austin), Alaina (Tyler), John Parker (Regina), Jessica (Hailee) and Madeline. He held a special place  for his great granddaughter, Liv. In addition, he had several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his brother, Slade Kennedy and his sister, Merilyn Bullard.
