Sidney S. Benham

Sidney Smith Benham passed away at home on May 13th 2021 surrounded by family in his home. He was born July 28th of 1934 on the family farm in Stanfordville, NY. He resided in the area for his whole life and worked as a general contractor/woodworker. He served in the army in the early 50’s. He was a regular at local restaurants like Sonny's and the old Home Plate, where he would meet with his friends and eat breakfast. During his retirement, he enjoyed riding around in both his blue Ford tractor and old Chevy dump truck. He also had a very gentle heart for animals, especially dogs.
 

He is survived by his sister Virginia Augerson of Millbrook; his daughter Melanie Benham and partner Dave of Red Hook; his son Bruce Benham and wife Catherine of Stanfordville; two grandchildren Travis and Hannah; multiple nieces and nephews; and his companion of 42 years, Lorraine Ryan. 
 

There will be no services, as he wished. In lieu of flowers, you may send a donation to the Stanfordville Fire House or Dutchess County SPCA.
