Nancy Vaill Obituary

Pine Plains, NY – Nancy A. Vaill, 77, passed away Monday, December 28, 2020, at her home.

Born December 30, 1942 in Torrington, CT., she was the daughter of the late Michael Bigos and Ruth Furer Bigos of Connecticut.

Nancy met her husband, Lloyd through the local 4-H Dairy Club.  They were married shortly after on April 8, 1961, in Litchfield, CT.

Nancy was a local resident of Pine Plains for 52 years.  In 1968, Nancy and her husband, Lloyd purchased the present day farm: Lo-Nan Farms.  Nancy devoted her life to her family, the farm, and the community.  She was the leader of the Pine Plains 4-H Cloverette Club, the advisor to the ENY Junior Holstein Club, and a lifelong asset to the Pine Plains FFA.  She was very instrumental in each organization by instilling structure, work ethic, and honest values in every member.  While Nancy’s dedication was reflected on the farm, her true passion was inspiring the success and future of the youth within the community.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Lloyd H. Vaill, Sr.; her children, Rosina (Robert) Schulerud; Lisa Vaill, Teresa Vaill, Corrine (Josef) Meiller and Lloyd H. (Amy) Vaill, Jr; six grandchildren, Keelyann (Paul) Burke, Ashley (Nathan) Potter, Justine (Devin) Schulerud Iverson, Victoria Meiller, Quinlan Schulerud, and Jessica Meiller; and one great granddaughter, Aislyn Burke.  She is also survived by two sisters, Mary Green and Michele (John) Peila, several nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Dana. She was predeceased by her sister, Carolyn Schreder.

There are no calling hours and burial services will be private.

A celebration of her life will be held next year.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in care of to the Eastern New York Junior Holstein Club, 28 Poplar Avenue, Pine Plains, NY 12567.  The contributions will be used to establish a scholarship fund in Nancy’s memory.
