Michael Scheller Obituary

Michael W. Scheller, 64, of Copake, passed away September 25, 2023 at his residence. He was born on May 29, 1959 in Rhinebeck to Walter Scheller and Eleanor (Winans) Vail. He grew up around the family farm and then went to work for Karl Ehmer Farm. After which he went on to work for the Village of Millerton Water Dept.  Most recently  he was the Superintendent of the Waste Water treatment and Highway Department for the Village of Philmont until his retirement. He continued working part time after his retirement for The Town of Hillsdale Sewer Treatment Plant and the water and wastewater plant for Berkshire Farm Center.

Mike was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing especially with his grandsons. He admired hotrods, motorcycles and working on his tractors. When not outdoors or tinkering he could be found reading a good book. Mike was a member of the Deer Run Lodge and will certainly be missed this season. 

Michael is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Robin Scheller, his mother Eleanor Vail. Son, Kenny Van Keuren and his companion Ariel O’Neill. Two adoring grandsons Kollin & Hunter Van Keuren. His sister Patricia Giordano and brother Timothy Scheller, nephews; Matthew Giordano and Tim Scheller ( TJ)and Frank Wathley,Jr. His brother in law, Frank Wathley, several cousins and his two loving pups, Misty & Indy. 

In addition to his father , Michael was also predeceased by his brother in law, Angelo Giordano, and his niece Jade Wathley. 

A time for sharing memories and offering condolences will be held on Saturday September 30, 2023 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 8063 Route 22, Copake, New York. A prayer service will follow at 1:00 pm.  Interment will take place privately. In lieu of flowers donations in Michael's memory are requested to the American Diabetes Association.
