Kathryn A. MacArthur

Kathryn A. MacArthur (Kay) age 93 of Ancram, NY passed peacefully on Thursday January 14, 2021

Kay was born on March 28, 1927 in Rockville Center, NY to the late Fredric and Thelma (Holland) Shipman. They moved to Copake Falls where they owned and operated to Taconic Wayside Inn for many years. It was there she met her husband James and started their family in Ancram.

Kay is a lifetime member of the Ancram Fire Co. Auxiliary where she was very active in support of the fireman during major fires, fundraising and social events. She was a bartender for many years where she made a large amount of friends and brought joy to many. Kay was the life of any party. She went on many trips with her lady friends that she always enjoyed. What Kay loved the most was when the entire family would get together on the holidays and especially her dinner nights with the grandkids. 

Kay leaves behind her children, Fred (Beverly) of Philmont, Jim (Andrea) of Millerton, John (Trish) of Ancram, Scott of Ancram, Kathy Ann (John) McBroom of Parrotsville TN, Sheila of Colonie and Rob (Jeanie) of Ancram. She also leaves her grandkids, Jamie, Sarah, John and Amber, Asya Morey, Maggie McBroom, Marissa McBroom  and Christopher. Kay is also survived by several great grandkids, nieces and nephews.

She was pre deceased by her husband James and a sister, Mary Ellen Graph.

Friends are invited and may call on Tuesday January 19^th, 2021 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, Route 22 in Copake, NY. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing for the safety of all.

A private service for family will be held on Wednesday January 20th, 2021 followed by interment at Union Cemetery in Ancram.
