Kathleen Doppel Obituary

June 8, 2020 – Kathleen Ellen Doppel.  Born October 16, 1927, in Poughkeepsie NY, Kathleen was the daughter of Donald Chisholm and Kathryn (Manning) Chisholm.  “Kay” as she was generally known, studied early childhood education at Vassar College.  She met and married her husband Harold Doppel on April 3, 1947.  Kay worked as a secretary in Boston in the early years of their marriage and then subsequently moved to Copake Lake where they raised their three children.  She was a phenomenal baker, and was always working on cooking up something delicious for dessert.  Kay was a past member of the West Copake Reformed Church’s women’s guild, and was active in Cub Scouts as a den mother.  She worked for Pine Lane Poultry Farm as a customer service representative for many years.

Kay is survived by her three children; Linda (Eric) Miller, Steven Doppel, and William (Sandy) Doppel, as well as her grandchildren Joshua (Lauren) Miller, Megan (John Allen) Carruth, Heather Doppel and Casey (Meghan Parmalee) Doppel.  She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Adelyn and Braelyn Miller, Adalina Doppel and Evianna Doppel.  She was pre-deceased by her husband Harold, as well as by her sisters and brothers.

A private remembrance will be held by the family at a future date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Taconic Hills Dollars for Scholars, PO Box 1119, Philmont NY  12565.
