Katherine M. Kozar

Katherine M. Kozar, 98, of Pine Plains, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2021 surrounded by family. She was born on March 9, 1923 in New York City. The daughter of Max and Katharina (Schriewer) Edelmeyer. On November 16, 1947 in New York City, she married John Kozar, who predeceased her.

Katherine worked as a caregiver in the early years of her career in child care and was involved with different organizations. Including the Rehabilitation Program Inc, in Poughkeepsie, Association for the Help of Retarded Children and the Throgs Neck Organization for the retarded, in the Bronx. Katherine was a long-time member of St. John’s Church in Manorton.

Katherine is survived by her daughter, Barbara Fontane MD, of New York, and her son, Reverend Paul W. and his wife, Pamela Kozar, of Texas. Also, by her two grandchildren, Matthew and his wife Megan Kozar, and Elizabeth Kozar.

She was predeceased by her husband, and daughter Cheryl M. Kozar.

Visitation time will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Peck & Peck Funeral Home, 7749 S. Main Street, Pine Plains, NY. Where a funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Manorton.
