Harry Holleufer, 99, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2023 at Noble Horizons. Harry was born on July 11, 1923 in Germany, the son of Adolf and Marianne Holleufer. During World War II Harry was a Germany Army signal operator. This helped pave the way for him to immigrate to the United States.
In the 1950’s he began working for KLM airlines in New York in airline communications. He retired after 25 years and moved upstate with his former wife, Hildegard. They settled in Ancram, where Harry designed and built his own house. The house was featured in Main Street Magazine, in an article on do-it yourself homebuilding.
Harry moved to Pine Plains and was a resident of Town Centre for over the last 10 years. He was a member of the Young at Hearter’s, and enjoyed cross word puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and even some gambling.
Harry is survived by his son, Thomas Holleufer, of Hudson, Doris Holleufer, of London. His loyal friend, Michael Manning, of Pine Plains and his neighbors, Brian & Candi.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Trodal Holleufer, and two daughters, Innes & Astrid.
Graveside services will be held at St. James Cemetery in Ghent.
