Edward Baker Obituary

Edward “Kenny” Baker of Hillsdale, NY left us peacefully on April 22. He was 84.

Kenny was born on July 25,1938 in Hudson, NY to the late Mildred (Andrews) and Edward Baker. After graduating from Roe Jan High School, Kenny joined the Air Force, which took him to England and France. After his time in the service he came back home to Hillsdale, where he married Sandra Schmid, his beloved late wife of 61 years. His family takes great solace in knowing that he is with Sandy, who left us in November.

Kenny was a long time employee of Hudson City Savings Bank in Hudson, NY, where he specialized in computers. He will be remembered for many things, but most of all his quick wit and stories. He spent the majority of his life in his cherished town of Hillsdale and was at his best whenever he weaved a good tale about his buddies and all of their hilarious adventures. He was a friend to all, an avid hunter and fisherman and was a lifelong member of both the Ox Bow Club and Rod and Gun Club.  He was a wonderful cook, enjoyed wood working and building, and was always quick to help friends with whatever projects they had.

Kenny was dearly loved and will be forever missed by daughters Cori Barbato (Carmen) of Hillsdale and Rachel LaRochelle (Robert) of Jensen Beach, FL.; son Kevin Baker (Erica) of Hillsdale; and grandchildren Danielle, Tylar, and Carmen.

Kenny’s family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to his friends and extended family at Fairview Commons where he was loved and well cared for.

A memorial celebrating Kenny's life will be held Saturday, May 6, beginning at Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 Route 22 in Copake, NY. Friends may call from 11-1 with a service of remembrance to begin at 1. The celebration of Kenny will continue at the Hillsdale House from 2-4.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kenny’s memory may be made to Rheinstrom Hill Audubon Sanctuary or the Activity Program at Fairview Commons Nursing Center.
