Diane Marie Campbell, 72, died at her home in Copake Falls on Thursday, October 26, 2023 after a battle with cancer. She was born in Brooklyn on May 16, 1951, the only daughter of Rudolph and Anne LaMacchia. She graduated from John Bowne High School in New York City and became a classical ballet dancer and teacher for forty years.
She trained at New York University and the Bolshoi School in Maryland. She was a qualified teacher of the Vaganova syllabus as taught at the Vaganova Institute of St. Petersburgh, Russia.
The other great passion in her life was her family and children. She is survived by her son and daughters, Peter, Melissa and Kiran Dufault. She has two surviving brothers, John and Tom LaMacchia. She has five grandchildren. Her husband of thirty years, James Campbell, is bereaved by her death.
Diane was loving and kind and devoted to the idea that love and art make life perfect.
