Bonny Hughes Obituary

Bonny Lee Hughes, 86, passed away on January 30, 2023 at her residence. She was born on September 15, 1936 in Poughkeepsie to the late Vernon and Elizabeth Beust. She worked for IBM before becoming a home health aide, which was truly her passion. Bonny was a natural caregiver, who had a generous heart as well.
 

Bonny was a former member of the Stanford Ladies Auxiliary, was Captain of the Stanford Rescue Squad and former member of the Stanfordville garden club. She was also president of the Women’s Fellowship group. Was a choir member for both the Stanfordville United Church of Christ and the Rhinebeck Choral Club. She also had a love for all things arts and crafts and was a talented seamstress who sewed many costumes for local plays. Bonny found great joy in feeding the birds and tending to her gardens. 

Bonny is survived by her three children and their spouses, Cheryl (Gary) Darling, David (YunHi) Craig and Jeffrey (Nicole) Craig. Her six grandchildren, Jason and Erik Darling, Christopher, James, Megan, and Jacob Craig. In addition to her nine great grandchildren, Emma, Madeline, Abigail and Hazel Grace Darling and Chloe, Colin, Christian, Lily, and Leo Craig. She is also survived by her sister, Lynne Diane Beust.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hughes.

 

A time for sharing memories and offering condolences will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 from 3:00 to 5:30pm at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 7749 S. Main Street, Pine Plains. Where a memorial service will begin at 5:30pm. Interment will take place privately at the convenience of the family. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bonny’s memory are requested to Willow Roots, 23 N. Main Street Pine Plains NY 12567 or to the Dutchess County SPCA.
