Winfield J. Fisher Jr., 98, passed away unexpectedly at his residence in Germantown, New York, on May 7, 2026. He was born on October 14, 1927, in Yonkers, and his life spanned nearly a century marked by dedication, service, and deep care for those around him. He was the son of Winfield Sr. and Rose (Weissensee) Fisher.
Winfield served honorably in the United States Army before pursuing higher education. He earned his bachelor's degree from Pace University. For many years, he served as the treasurer for Elof Hansson in New York City, a role he held with steadfast responsibility until his retirement. Following retirement, Winfield and his beloved wife Karin chose to move upstate, where he embraced a quieter life filled with hands-on projects and family time.
Winfield's personality was defined by his caring nature and unwavering loyalty to his loved ones. He took great pride in his family and was known for his willingness to do anything for anyone, always making sure to look after his siblings.
Among his many accomplishments, Winfield built his own home and tended to it with remarkable diligence until the very end. A testament to his spirited nature and zest for life, he received a bulldozer from his children as a gift for his 90th birthday, symbolizing his enduring strength and enthusiasm. His interests were varied and vibrant; he enjoyed horseback riding, farming, and traveling extensively with Karin and their family. Their journeys took them to iconic places such as Cape Cod, Disney World, Sweden, and across Europe, creating treasured memories that will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Winfield is survived by his loving wife, Karin; his children, Kathleen Fisher, Patricia Marie Fisher, Winfield James Fisher III, and Amanda (Matt) Christina Fisher Mihalik; and five grandchildren, Brian, Kristen, Marissa, Sophia, and Hafthor. His legacy also lives on through his great-grandchildren, Khloe, Andrew, and Chase. He is further survived by his brother, Richard (Camille) Fisher, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Donald and Charles Fisher.
Family and friends are invited to share memories and offer condolences on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 7749 South Main Street, Pine Plains, New York. A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Reformed Church Cemetery, County Route 8, Germantown, New York.
