December 22, 1944 — December 27, 2025

Milan, NY

Steffina C. Sanabria, 81, of Milan, passed away on December 27, 2025, at Columbia Memorial Hospital. Born on December 22, 1944, in Manhattan, New York, she was the daughter of Stephen and Steffina (Brezniak) Terstenyak.

Steffina began her career as an X-Ray technician at Sloan Kettering Hospital in Manhattan, where her commitment to patient care shone through. Following a heartfelt decision to relocate to Milan with her husband, Nicholas, Steffina transitioned into the Pine Plains Central School District, working as a teacher’s aide. In this role, she positively influenced countless children, demonstrating her dedication to nurturing young minds and fostering a love for learning. Together they later moved to Pine Plains.

A nature lover at heart, Steffina found joy in the simplicity of life, pouring her passion into hobbies such as gardening. She also enjoyed taking long walks in the woods, where she would teach her daughters about all of the living things and passed her love of nature to her daughters. Additionally, she enjoyed attending concerts with her family, often forging cherished memories that would last a lifetime.

Steffina was known for her strong-willed and determined personality, often described as a "spitfire" who remained tough until the end. Her zest for life was complemented by her talents as an avid artist; she found solace and expression in drawing and painting, celebrating her creative spirit.

She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Nicholas; her daughters, Ranira Sanabria, Rebecca Sanabria, and Nicolette Sanabria and her husband Jesse Wendover; and her two cherished grandchildren, Evan and Lenny Wendover. Steffina leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and artistic passion, remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her brothers, Stephen and Joseph Terstenyak.

Steffina Sanabria's life reminds us of the importance of determination, family, and the beauty that surrounds us. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends. In keeping with her wishes, no formal services will be held. Arrangements have been entrusted to Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, of Pine Plains.
