Shirley A. Vazquez

Shirley A. Vazquez, 80, of Pine Plains, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Sharon Health Care Center. Born on Tuesday, June 19, 1945, in Poughkeepsie. She was the daughter of Hebron and Viola (Williams) Murphy.

Shirley worked for Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, until her retirement. During her career she held various positions from CNA, to MMST and retired as the head of housekeeping. Her commitment to her work was surpassed only by her dedication to her family. Shirley was a woman of diverse passions, with a profound love for Elvis and a special affinity for babies, who always brought a twinkle to her eye. Yet above all, it was her family and grandchildren who she held closest to her heart.

Shirley is survived by her devoted family, who will continue to honor her legacy and cherish the love she bestowed upon them. She leaves behind her children Patrick Murphy, Arthur Wilcox and his wife Tracy, Dean Wilcox, Anita Farnham, Damian Vazquez and his wife Melinda, and Jannet Vazquez and her fiancé Rich Jewett & son-in-law, Roy Watson III. Her pride and joy was truly reflected in her grandchildren; Adam, Dan, Preston, Harlie, Devon, Dariann, Isaac, Lilianah, Tyler, and Katie, with one great grandchild on the way whom she was eagerly anticipating. In addition to her brother William Murphy and sister in law, Clarice; Shirley also took immense pride in her numerous nieces, nephews & cousins.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Hebron Murphy and Viola, as well as her brother Larry Murphy and sister Daisy Savoy. Her spirit and resilience were met with admiration, a testament to the rich, compassionate life she lived.

In honoring Shirley’s wishes, no formal services are being planned at this time. Arrangements have been entrusted to Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, Pine Plains, New York.
