Rosa B. Glorius, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center at the age of 88. She was born on September 4, 1936, in Germany. The daughter of Joseph and Franziska (Rottmaier) Welz. She immigrated to the United States in 1956 by way of Ellis Island and settled in New York City with her sister Anna. It was there that she met her husband Gerhard J. Glorius and together they enjoyed almost 55 years of marriage until his passing in 2013.
Rosa led a life filled with love, dedication, and adventure. A keen traveler, Rosa always sought to explore and learn from the world around her. She traveled all over the world. Including places like Israel, Egypt, India, China, Peru, Brazil, Australia, Canada and the entire European continent. Her life was marked by her passion for cooking, baking, gardening and her dedication to community service. She was an active member of the Stanfordville Forever Young group and the Stanfordville Garden Club, where she shared her love for nature and fellowship.
A devoted mother, Rosa is survived by her children, Christian Glorius, and his wife Julia, Annette Glorius, and her husband James Patrick, and her favorite son of the four legged variety, Mario. Her legacy of love and kindness lives on in her cherished grandchildren: Christiana Glorius, Kevin Glorius-Patrick, Alexander Glorius, Karin Glorius-Patrick, Kyle Glorius-Patrick, and Athena Glorius. She also leaves behind her beloved great-grandson, Theodore J Geithner Glorius.
Family and friends are invited to share memories and offer condolences on May 19, 2025 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00pm at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 7749 South Main Street, Pine Plains, NY 12567. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on May 20, 2025 from St. Joseph's Church, Millbrook. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bangall.
