Patrick Joseph McDermott

Patrick Joseph McDermott, age 81 of Monroe, New York died peacefully on Jan 23, 2026 in Rhinebeck, New York of old age. He was the second of twelve children born to Patrick McDermott and Mary Hanley of Roscommon, Ireland on Feb 22, 1944. He worked as a residential building Superintendent in New York City for many years prior to retirement.

Patrick’s many interests included history, Irish and Cajun music and dance, nature, birds, air shows, football, hockey and the Olympics.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Ita, of 62 years, his three children Maureen, Kim, and Fergus, and a son-in-law, Chris.

He is preceded in death by his four sisters: Theresa, Carmel, Lily and Mai. Also, by many relatives and friends.

Services will be held privately.
