Nancy L. Kniffin

Nancy L. Kniffin, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, at her home in Clermont. She was born on February 22, 1951, in Poughkeepsie, to the late Roger and Mildred (Nickerson) Kniffin.

Nancy’s journey began in Poughkeepsie, and over the years she earned the deep affection of friends and those fortunate enough to cross her path. She pursued a unique and creative career, dedicating 13 years as a wax sculptor at Tallix, where her craftsmanship and commitment left an indelible mark. Her work in the arts was a testament to her talented hands and her appreciation for intricate beauty.

A lifelong lover of animals, Nancy surrounded herself with her beloved cats and dogs, finding joy and companionship in their presence. She also cherished the peaceful moments watching deer roam in and around her home, taking comfort in the natural world around her. Her compassion extended beyond her own pets to all creatures, reflecting a gentle spirit attuned to the quiet wonders of everyday life.

Nancy was also known for her love of books and reading. She curated an impressive personal library at home, which she counted among her proudest accomplishments. This home library was a sanctuary and a reflection of her thoughtful curiosity about the world. To her, each book was a friend, each story a window into another life or perspective. Community played a special role in Nancy’s later years, and she especially enjoyed the camaraderie of her pals at Hannaford in Red Hook and both North and South SEWARTS in Red Hook. She loved you all !!!

Nancy is survived by Renee Fikar, whose friendship and companionship brought joy and support through their 43 years together.

In keeping with Nancy’s quiet lifestyle, no formal services will be held. Arrangements have been entrusted to Peck & Peck Funeral Homes.
