Nancy Hathaway

April 20, 1934 — October 16, 2024

Craryville, NY

On October 16, 2024, Nancy ( McHenry) Hathaway was called home to a family reunion in Heaven to be with her father Martin and mother Ada Mary (Watrous) McHenry. In attendance were her 15 older brothers and sisters and waiting most of all, her loving husband Dexter Hathaway who preceded her in death in 2018.

Left behind to wish her a happy and joyous reunion are her children and their spouses, Anne and William Graney of Craryville, Linda and Jeff Ploof of Colchester, VT, Susan Hathaway and Richard Bruno of Watervliet, Dexter Hathaway III and Brittany Boyles of Craryville, Mark and Karen Hathaway of Hillsdale and Kevin Hathaway and Jay White of Atlanta, GA, and her grandchildren Adam, Jason, Cassie, Ryan, Jacob, Carli, Brock, Colton and great granddaughter Lydia.

Nancy was born in Granville, NY on April 20, 1934. Her education began by walking to a one room schoolhouse two miles from her childhood home. She attended high school at the Granville Central School where she was a cheerleader and a wonderful student. Upon graduation she worked in Granville at Tatko Brothers Slate Company, and then in Albany for an insurance company, before meeting Dexter on a blind date. They were married on October 28, 1961, and lived in Vermont, Connecticut and Massachusetts, before settling in Copake, NY where they raised their six children.

Nancy was the secretary at the former Saint Bridget's catholic church in Copake Falls for many years. She also provided childcare for many local children. Nancy and Dexter made many lifelong friends in Copake and she was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She truly enjoyed nothing more than being with her family. Nancy's faith was a strong part of her life. She lived it by opening her heart and home to all that entered.

In her later years her life came full circle when she ended up riding through Granville to get to Lake St. Catherine, where she enjoyed sunny days, visiting with family and friends, enjoying many boat rides, and of course, ice cream. Nancy was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She will be missed by everyone whose life she touched.

We wish you well Mom, and Godspeed. We love you so much, which is why this hurts so much.
