Mildred B. Murphy

May 12, 1950 — Jun 23, 2026

Ghent, NY

Mildred “Millie” B. Murphy of Ghent NY passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, at Pine Haven Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by the love of her family .

Millie was born on May 12, 1950, in Rhinebeck NY, to John Wendover and Ruth Sherman. On June 21, 1969, she married the love of her life, Clarence Murphy, and together they built a life centered around family, raising five sons. After dedicating herself to her children, Millie worked in housekeeping, where her strong work ethic and caring nature shined through.

She was the kind of person you could tell anything to. She was always ready to listen, offer advice, or lend a helping hand. She would gladly give her last dollar to someone in need. Raising five boys taught her to take life as it came, and very little ever surprised her. She was resilient, down-to-earth, and carried a grace and kindness that were truly one of a kind. She will be forever remembered for her easygoing nature, her love of the color purple, her unwavering devotion to family, and, of course, her love for Elvis Presley.

She is survived by her five sons: Clarence Murphy Jr., James (Carolee) Murphy,Mike Murphy, Randy (Molly) Murphy, and Thomas (Gabriel) Murphy. She also leaves behind her seven grandchildren: Maggie (Joe) Ham, James Murphy Jr., Mariah Andino, Mike Murphy Jr., Randy Murphy Jr., Aubrey Murphy, and Max Murphy; as well as five great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.

In addition, Millie is survived by her longtime friend, Dave Mercay; Nancy Murphy, a beloved former daughter-in-law who remained a cherished part of the family for over 30 years; and many extended family members and friends who were blessed to know her.

Millie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Clarence Murphy; her parents, John and Ruth; her brothers, Robert, William, Joe, Pete, and Raymond; along with her cherished dog, Popcorn.
