Michael Stanke 79 of Hillsdale, a distinguished publisher and a cherished individual known for his warm and welcoming spirit, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026. Born on October 16, 1946, Michael's life was marked by remarkable achievements and a genuine kindness that touched those around him.

Michael earned his Bachelor's degree from New England College, laying the foundation for a career that would leave a significant impact on the world of publishing. He was best known for his role as a publisher for renowned magazines such as Architect Digest and HOME & Bon Appite, among numerous other projects that showcased his dedication and visionary approach to the industry.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Michael was a devoted partner. He shared a loving partnership of 21 years with Mary Stine, who stood by his side through decades of life’s joys and challenges. He is also survived by his two daughters, Devon and Amanda, Michael took deep pride and joy in his daughters.

Michael also served his country with honor, completing two tours of military service. This commitment reflected his deep sense of duty and courage, qualities that resonated throughout all facets of his life.

Those who knew Michael remember him as a kind-hearted, lovable man whose warmth and generosity created a welcoming atmosphere wherever he went. A private Memorial Celebration will be held by the family.
