Michael Citrin

Jan 23, 1941 — Aug 9, 2026

Ancramdale, NY

Michael Citrin, a longtime resident of Ancramdale, NY, passed away on August 9, 2026, from complications of Parkinson’s Disease, which he bravely fought for more than 30 years.

Michael was born on January 23, 1941, in New York City. He received his bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University and MBA from Columbia University. Michael married the love of his life, Adrienne Dinkowitz, on October 28, 1968. Michael went on to have an extremely successful career in advertising in New York City. In the mid-seventies, he and Adrienne moved to Woodstock and Michael joined a marketing and ad agency in Poughkeepsie that soon became known as Dwelly, Bolger and Citrin.

To those who knew him, Michael was a larger-than-life figure. He and Adrienne built their dream home in Ancramdale in 2000 with a view of the Berkshire Mountains that they cherished. Michael and Adrienne enjoyed a life filled with family and friends, music, world travel, motorcycle and ski trips. Michael was an expert skier and he and Adrienne skied all over the world. Michael and Adrienne also owned horses and Michael was a fixture in the local fox-hunting club where he was Master of the Hunt for several years. Racquetball was another passion. In later years, Michael could be seen riding his recumbent trike on local trails, or with his dog, Mo. He also took up shooting and became an expert marksman. He sang in the choir on Sundays and was an avid photographer. Michael truly was a Renaissance man.

Michael was extremely generous and gave back to the community. He was instrumental in the building of the local library and he and Adrienne supported efforts such as fund-raising for glass doors at the Ancram Fire Company. They attended just about every fundraiser for the Fire Company, plus fundraisers for many local events and organizations, like the Ancramdale Presbyterian Church’s annual St. Patrick’s dinner.

Michael shared his experiences living with Parkinson’s Disease with others who were recently diagnosed. He wrote and published “Thirty Years with Parkinson’s Disease, the Unscientific Truth,” as a free self-help guide to those with the disease. Michael’s goal was to help others so that they could see, in Michael’s words, that “viewing life through Parkinson’s can help you cherish each positive moment and work towards fulfilling your dreams.”

Michael is survived by his brother, Stuart Citrin, his niece Lisa Kalmanson, and great-nephew Zachary and great niece Mia, his nephew, Eric Citrin, his niece Heidi Weintraub and husband, Eric Kahn, his great nieces Alana Kopelson and husband Jake, his niece Jordyn Bannett and husband Zach, his nephew Brad Weintraub and wife Tracy Hope Davis, his great-nephew Adam, and sister-in-law Ruth Nelson and husband Ed, and sister-in-law Marilynn Weintraub and husband Leonard.
