A woman of devotion and creativity, Melia was a loyal women. Her love of gardening brought beauty to her life, her craft projects skillfully created with care and love as they brightened the lives of those around her. An avid reader, she was often found with a book in her hands, exploring new worlds and ideas, she loved fantasy and true crime.
Melia had a unique connection with people from all over the world through her love of playing Royal Stories, an online game where she formed meaningful friendships. Her online friends were an extended family who shared her joy and laughter across the miles.
Melia is survived by her devoted husband Edward Smith, children; Beth Jackson, Kelly (Derek) Lovins, Carrie Jackson, William Jackson, Amaya Smith, Anthony Smith, Marissa Smith, Elisha Smith, Ed (Amy) Smith Jr., Jesse (Cassandra) Smith, Joshua Smith, Charlene (Brandon) Weaver, and Crystal (Michael) Potocki, who will forever cherish her memory. In addition to 26 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; she also leaves behind her dear mother, Patsey Farlin, and her beloved sister, Dana Koay.
A celebration of her life is being planned for the springtime when family and friends will be able to gather and share memories. Arrangements have been entrusted to Peck & Peck Funeral Homes in Pine Plains.
