Maryann Tirone

Pine Plains – MaryAnn Tirone, 81, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017, at her home in Pine Plains.  Prior to moving to Pine Plains Mrs. Tirone had been a resident of Livingston, NY and Brooklyn.

While living in Brooklyn Mrs. Tirone worked as a Pediatric Assistant for Dr. Susan Schulman; and she also volunteered working with children with special needs and immune compromised infants.  After she moved upstate, Mrs. Tirone volunteered at the Northern Dutchess Hospital Neugarten Family Birth Center; the Pine Plains Elementary School, where she read with children; and was a supporter of St. Jude’s Hospital and UNICEF.

She was a faithful parishioner of St. Christopher Roman Catholic Church, Red Hook.

Born May 13, 1936 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of Christopher and Mary (Casale) Picardi.

Mrs. Tirone is survived by her husband Dr. William T. Tirone of Pine Plains; three daughters, Santina (Scott Goering) Tirone, Gail (Robert) Finley, and Lisa (Michael) DeCesoris; eleven grandchildren, Nicole (Ron) Germano, Christopher and Stephanie Caliendo, Maya Tirone-Goehring and Jessica Goehring, Austin Stanion, Marina and Evan Finley, Anthony and Ava DeCesoris, and Alana Fox; a sister Christine Bianchi and brother James Picardi; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son and daughter-in-law Robert and Gayle Caliendo

Calling hours are Friday, December 8th, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, at the Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, Inc., 7749 South Main St., Pine Plains, NY

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, 12 PM, at St. Christopher Church, S. Broadway, Red Hook, NY.   Interment will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Red Hook.   A gathering of friends and family will follow the funeral services

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude’s Hospital.
