Jul 9, 1944 — Jul 8, 2026

Philmont, NY

Martha Roberta Wheeler, born July 9, 1944 in Quincy, MA, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026 in Philmont, just one day shy of her 82nd birthday. Martha, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, leaves behind a remarkable legacy of love, humor, and boundless energy.

Throughout her life, Martha was known for her spunky spirit and the joy she brought into every room. She had a rare gift for making people laugh and always greeted others with a hello. Martha was a woman who embraced life fully—her active nature meant that one could never quite predict where she might be next. Whether she was running errands, shopping, or embarking on one of her spontaneous road trips, Martha was always on the move.

Martha took great pleasure in her work at the local factory crafting mini-figurines. She approached her career with the same dedication and attention to detail that she gave every aspect of her life.

In quieter moments, Martha could often be found relaxing in front of the television, engrossed in her favorite old westerns and episodes of Gunsmoke, which were guaranteed to be playing in her home. She loved to shop, always on the lookout for a good bargain, and particularly enjoyed driving—a passion she passed down to her daughter, Stacey.

She is survived by her loving sister, Joan Clark; her devoted daughters, Marion Miles (Russell Van DeBogart) and Stacey (Ryan) Snyder; and her son, Richard Morrison. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Brock Miles, Marion Warren, John Funk, Robert Flint Jr., and Kiera (Thomas) Weigeilt. She is also lovingly remembered by nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, whose lives she touched in countless ways.

Martha is preceded in death by her beloved father, Harold; her mother, Marion Robinson Glines; her husband, John "Jack" Wheeler Sr.; her brothers, Kenneth Glines and Mark Glines; Daughter Leigh Lewis and her great-grandson, Wesley Funk.

Martha Roberta Wheeler’s memory will live on in the many family stories told, in the laughter she inspired, and in the loving bonds she helped to create. Her energy, kindness, and unique character will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of life will be held privately at the connivence of the family.
