Joseph Ratchford, 77, passed away on December 16, 2025, at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. He was born on November 10, 1948, in Pittston, Pennsylvania, the son of Bernard and Julia (Sedlak) Ratchford.

Joseph was known for his generosity and intelligence, qualities that he brought into all areas of his life. Owning and operating Hudson Valley Data Services, he specialized in data programming, showcasing his expertise and dedication to his craft. His professional life was marked by an impressive ability to adapt and innovate, earning him the respect of colleagues and clients alike.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Joseph was deeply involved in his community. He served in the Roosevelt Fire Department and as the captain of the Staatsburg Rescue Squad, dedicating countless hours to ensure the safety and well-being of others. He was also a volunteer for the Dutchess County Medical Reserve Corp (MRC), reflecting his selfless nature and commitment to public service.

Joseph had a rich array of hobbies and interests. He enjoyed scuba diving and sailing, pursuits that reflected his adventurous spirit. He worked to obtain his pilot's license, demonstrating his desire to explore new heights. Additionally, Joseph shared his passion for music and sound engineering by working as a sound technician for many local bands over the years.

Joseph is survived by his children, Joanne (Cliff) Hulsart, Megan (Rich) Brenner, Christopher Ratchford, and Susan Ratchford, who will all cherish the memories they created together. Joseph was a proud grandfather to Marissa (Cole) Klasinski, Gavyn Queen, Masyn Killmer, Jaxyn Killmer, Chloe Ratchford, and Ryan, Sophia, Lucas, Maximus Brenner, Katelyn Brenner, Courtney Coons, Lilyanna Brenner and Emma Brenner. He is also survived by his siblings, David (Lizbeth) Ratchford, James (Joann) Ratchford, and Rita Klein, and all of their children, along with his stepchildren Jessica Traver, Carl, and Stephanie Diesing, and additional grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joseph will also be fondly remembered by his ex-wife Debra Ratchford.

He was predeceased by his parents, brother Michael Ratchford, and his late ex-wife Carol Ratchford, whose memories continue to live on through the lives he touched.

Family and friends are invited to share memories and offer condolences on Friday, January 23rd from 4-7 pm at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 7749 South Main Street, Pine Plains, New York. In lieu of flowers donations in Joseph's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society’s Leukemia Foundation.
