Saugerties, NY

Joseph R. Acuna, 65 of Saugerties, a dedicated father, grandfather, and devoted employee, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, in Norfolk, Connecticut, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 21,1960, in Mount Kisco, New York, Joseph lived a life marked by gentle kindness, unwavering support, and a deep love for his family.

Joseph graduated from Fox Lane High School in Bedford, New York, in 1978. Shortly thereafter, he answered the call to serve his country, proudly enlisting in the Navy and serving from 1981 to 1987. Following his military service, he moved to Vermont, where he laid down roots and lovingly built a family, eventually raising three beautiful children. Joseph’s professional journey led him to work for Keene Medical Supply before relocating to Milerton in 2010. There, he embarked on a new career as a pest control exterminator, where he was known not only for his diligence but also for his gentle and supportive nature.

Throughout his life, Joseph was guided by his deepest pride: his cherished family. He was a constant presence, always willing to come over just to hang out with his loved ones, sharing laughter, warmth, and support. His character was a blend of gentleness, love, kindness, and steadfast support — qualities that endeared him to all who knew him.

Joseph is survived by his daughters, Melissa Acuna and Ashley (Daniel) Fuentez, and his son, Kyle (Sara) Acuna and his grandchildren James, Dominic, Alex, Samuel, Ezra, and Adaline.

He was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Ignacius and Estefana Perez-Acuna, as well as his beloved Uncle Ricardo “Rick” Acuna and Aunt Carmien Acuna, whose memories remain a lasting part of his story.

Joseph R. Acuna’s life was a testament to love and resilience. His legacy as a devoted dad, grandfather, and employee continues to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. Though he has left this world, the gentle spirit he carried remains alive in the hearts of his family and friends. He passed surrounded by those who loved him most, a final embrace filled with the comfort of his enduring presence.

A private Memorial Celebration will be held by the family.
