John W. Glembock, 90 of Pine Plains, passed away on April 13, 2023 in the comfort of his home. He was born on June 14, 1933 in the Bronx, New York. The son of John and Frances Cyrus Glembock.
Starting in 1952, John proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was the radar operator on a light crew aboard a P5M-2 Martin Marlin Seaplane in Patrol Squadron VP44 out of the Navy Airbase in Norfolk, Va. VP44 patrolled an area in the Bermuda Triangle and located and tracked Soviet submarines. John was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1956, having earned the National Defense and Good Conduct medals. He joined Burnell & Co. electronic filters in 1956. While working there as a Filter Technician and Union Vice-President durning the day, he attended Westchester Community College for two years at night. He joined IBM in 1964 as a Customer Engineer. After 27 years, he retired in 1991 as an Advisory Planner.
John enjoyed playing tennis, bowling, and golf. He won IBM departmental golf league championship. He also won a Burnell & Co. Chess Tournament. He also played no limit Hold ‘em poker at various casinos. From 1991 to 1996 he owned and operated Classic Limousine Service in Pine Plains, NY. On November 27, 1983, he married Penny A. Glembock in Pine Plains, NY who survives him at home. In addition to his daughter Lara M. Glembock and his sister Anne Morlot of Woodstock, GA.
