Hilary A. Petith

Hilary A. Petith, 78, of Hillsdale, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2026 at Ten Broeck Commons in Kingston, NY. She was born December 10, 1947 in Queens, to the late Adam and Sophie (Rudzinski) Hahn. Throughout her 78 years, Hilary led a life marked by compassion, dedication and a gentle spirit that touched all who knew her.

Hilary devoted much of her professional life to the service and care of others as a Registered Nurse, working most of her career at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington. Her unwavering commitment and empathy became hallmarks of her practice, and her colleagues and patients alike will remember her for her steady kindness, her quiet strength, and her willingness to go above and beyond for those in her care.

Hilary found deep joy in the beauty of the world around her. She was an avid gardener, often tending lovingly to her gardens at home and drawing peace from time spent in nature. This appreciation for living things extended to her beloved pets—her parrots, cats, and dogs were cherished companions who enriched her days with affection and companionship.

She is survived by her devoted son, Paul Dorval and her much-loved grandchildren Madison Dorval and Lynsey Dorval. Her brothers, Randall Hahn and Gregory Hahn and her sister, Valerie Payton as well as her stepson, Paul Petith, two step grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.

Hilary is predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles Petith, whose memory she held close throughout her life as well as her sisters, Marilyn Pratt, Claudia Gleason and her brother Leroy A. Hahn and step daughter, Laurie Kipp.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on July 31, 2026, at Hillsdale Rural Cemetery, Old Town Road, Hillsdale, NY 12529. All are welcome to attend.
