Helen Shewchesin went to be with the Lord on February 26, 2026 at home surrounded by loved ones. She was born on October 3, 1923 to the late Walter and Mary Szybinski. She was married to the late William Shewchesin who passed in 1990. She lived in Pine Plains for 75 years and enjoyed a quiet life. A woman of great faith, perseverance and strength. She was a remarkable mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend always helping, caring and teaching her family how to live a good life. She was always there for advice, love, comfort and encouragement. Helen enjoyed going out to eat occasionally, cooking, sewing, crocheting and watching the tv show 'Maine Cabin Masters'.
Helen is survived by her sister, Irene Dunajski of Illinois, daughters Maureen Geis, Brenda Roski (Don), and Nancy Halas. 10 Grandchildren Alex Halas (Kiersten), Dan Halas (Allie), Scott Geis (Gina), Michael Geis (Minna), Regina Stack, Karen Weisner (Scott), Donna Lehner (Norman), Sidney Garcia (Roberto), Natalie Ramiriz (Ciry), Michele Roski, 22 Great Grandchildren and 11 Great-Great Grandchildren.
Helen was predeceased by her sisters, Jean Rosenberg, Rose Burruso and brothers, Eddie, Chester and Julian Szybinski.
Family and friends are invited to share memories and offer condolences on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 7749 South Main Street, Pine Plains, New York. Followed by a short prayer service. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Pine Plains. In lieu of donations, please give your family a hug.
