Gary R. Mesec Jr., 60, of Gallatin, passed away peacefully at home on September 29, 2025, with his loving companion by his side. He was born on November 30, 1964 in Plattsburgh, to Donna M. (Ransom) Bard and Gary R. Mesec Sr. He was a dedicated and self-employed painter, whose work reflected the passion and care he brought to all aspects of his life.
Gary is remembered for his compassionate nature, consistently going out of his way for his family and friends. His kindness extended beyond humans, as he was known to help any animal in need. He had a zest for life that was evident in his favorite pastimes, which included snowmobiling and riding ATVs in the beautiful Adirondacks with his companion and friends.
Gary is survived by his loving companion of 38 years, Caroleen "Denise" Boyle, as well as his aunt, who he referred to as his sister, Debbey J. Staats, and her husband, John, of Maine. He is also survived by his uncle, Thomas Ransom, and his wife, Diane, of Averill Park; his godparents, Dave and Lillian Wilson, of Alabama; and in-laws Boyd and Trisha Wissbroecker, of Minnesota; Dean Murray, of Catskill; William Shook, of Elizaville and Paul Boyle, of California. Gary also cherished his many cousins and his beloved cats.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents, Thomas W. and Rita I. Ferris Ransom, of Germantown.
Gary R. Mesec Jr. will be greatly missed by many. In keeping with his wishes, no formal services will be held.
