Donna J. Parsons, 79, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026.
Born on December 26, 1946, in Copake, New York, Donna spent her early years in the community she always considered home. For the past eight years, she resided at Ghent Rehabilitation Center, where she formed many meaningful relationships with both residents and staff.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Marion Parsons; her brother, Kenneth Parsons Jr.; and her sister, Cheryl VandeBogart.
Although Donna never married or had children of her own, she dedicated her life to caring for others. Following the passing of her mother, she lovingly stepped into the role of caregiver, helping to raise her younger sister, Tammy Parsons Hart, with unwavering love and devotion. She also raised her nephew, Jason Parsons, as if he were her own son. Her love extended to the next generation. Aisha, Mark, Ashlyn, Andrea, and Shannon knew her as their grandmother in every way that mattered. The greatest joy of Donna’s life was her beloved great-grandson, Alex, who held a very special place in her heart.
Donna worked for BD Medical Supply early in her career before choosing to leave the workforce to devote herself to raising and caring for her family. Her selflessness, compassion, and nurturing spirit defined her life and left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—watching horror movies, playing bingo, and spending hours on the phone catching up with family and friends. Whether sharing a laugh, offering advice, or simply checking in, Donna made sure the people she loved always knew they were in her thoughts.
Donna will be remembered for her generous heart, her unwavering dedication to her family, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Though she is no longer with us, the kindness, strength, and love she shared will live on in the lives of those she helped raise and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026 at Noon in the West Copake Cemetery.
