Catherine Bowen

Catherine G. Bowen, 73, of Pine Plains, passed away comfortably at home in Pine Plains on April 28, 2025. She was born in the Bronx on December 29, 1951, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Hogan) Bowen. She grew up and lived most of her life in the Bronx. Cathy lost her only son Kenneth when he was only 17. He and his friends and other young people in the neighborhood would sometimes take a “shortcut” and cross a highway near the park. She fought to have a fence erected between the lanes so that no other kid would be hurt or lost in this way.

Catherine was an amazing grandmother, mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed gardening and she loved animals, especially horses, dogs and elephants. She was always willing to help people in any way she could. This was manifested throughout her career as a rehabilitation assistant at Throgs Neck Extended Care Center. She was wise, compassionate and loving, with a huge heart. She was very loved and will be deeply missed.

Cathy is survived by her daughter Eileen, her grandson Logan, her brother Charles and sister Gloria, her niece Randi and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.
