Brandt W. Nelson life long resident of Hillsdale, NY passed away on June 16, 2025 at Pine Haven Nursing Home. He was born on August 19, 1935 to Elmer and Bertha Nelson, the youngest of seven children. He grew up on the family farm and attended Roeliff Jansen Central School, where he graduated in 1954. On October 8, 1955 he married Almeda DeGrosso and they raised three children together and later became foster parents.

After selling the farm, he was a truck driver for many years and later on he became a bus driver for Taconic Hills Central School and Michael Johnston Transportation. Brandt and Almeda loved to travel primarily to historic places. They also enjoyed cruises, which were their favorite. One of his greatest pleasures was spending time with his children and grand children and later great grand children.

Brandt leaves behind his daughter, Tina Lee Nelson-Dellea and her husband Paul Dellea Jr., his sons Thompson Nelson and John Nelson and his wife Sarah. In addition grand children, Joshua Decker (MaryBeth), Arikka Petrianni (Sal), Jacob Dellea (Kaitlyn), Nicholas Dellea (Tara), Caitlin Nelson and her fiancé Joesph Vossler, Cody Nelson, Shelby Nelson, Megan Drabick(Josh) and James Grahn. Including great grand children, Michaela Decker, Jackson Petrianni, Lincoln Petrianni, Cassandra Nostrand, Joni Nelson, Orion Nelson and Adam Drabick. Brandt also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Almeda in 2022, also a daughter Theresa Lynn Nelson, daughter in law Theresa Nelson, great grandsons Hunter and Killian Decker.

Services for Brandt took place in West Copake Cemetery privately for family in keeping with his wishes.
