Roger Decker Obituary

Craryville – Roger A. Decker, 74, passed away Saturday, December 7, 2019, at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Hudson.

He was born August 27, 1945 in Great Barrington, MA; Roger was the youngest of the 12 children of Oswald and Mary (Lorette) Decker. 

He graduated from Albany Business College and soon began his career in banking; he retired as Assistant Vice President of Mortgage Originations at Hudson River Bank and Trust Company. Over the course of his career, Roger took pride in assisting countless members of the community achieve their aspirations of home ownership.

Roger served for 11 years as a member of the Taconic Hills School District Board of Education, and held the offices of President and Vice President. He also served on the Board of Directors of the United Way of Columbia and Greene Counties, and on the Board of Education at Questar III (BOCES). 

He was an avid sports enthusiast and had been very active with the Roe Jan Little League. A member of Copake Country Club, he enjoyed his many golf trips to Las Vegas, and venues around the country with great friends that he loved.  Having announced Taconic Hills football games for years, many people will remember him as the “Voice of the Titans.”  Roger was well known for his fun-loving demeanor, and his sincere, welcoming nature.  

Roger and his wife Sherry celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 4th. 

In addition to his wife, Roger is survived by two sons Greg Decker, and his wife Alison McNeilly of Breckenridge, CO; and Jarron Decker, and his partner Gregory Marsh of Albany, NY.

Memorial calling hours are Thursday, 4:00 to 7:00 PM, at the Peck & Peck Funeral Home, Route 22, Copake, NY.  Private interment will be at the Hillsdale Rural Cemetery.
