Jane W. (Wilsey) Miller

HILLSDALE…. Jane W. Miller, 86, of Rte. 22 died Tuesday, May 28, 2019 surrounded by her family.  Born January 5, 1933 in Copake, she was the daughter of the late Herbert P. and Susan M. Wilsey.

      An artist by nature, she mastered basket weaving, stitch work, and painting to name a few of the hobbies.  Following her 20+ years of employment as Cafeteria Manager at Roeliff-Jansen Central School, her love of art led her to open Ja-Lin Crafts, where she taught a variety of classes.  She was a member of the Copake Methodist Church and served as a teaching assistant for her daughter in recent years at “Teri’s Kool Kidz Preschool." Her family was very important to her and she fulfilled her role as mother, grandmother, and great grandmother with unconditional love. Her passion for cooking and baking was one of the many ways she shared her kindness. During regular family gatherings at their summer house on Copake Lake or at her home, Jane always made all of her guests feel welcomed.

          Jane is survived by her husband, Lindy G. Miller; a son, Lindy G. Miller, Jr. of Austerlitz, 2 daughters: Teri (Larry) S. Proper of Copake and Lisa (Paul) J. Marcel of Mill River, MA; 9 grandchildren: Case G. of San Jose, CA., Douglas J. and Hailey A. Miller of Belmont, CA., Todd L. of Brooklyn, Ryan B. of Claverack, Andrew M. of Gales Ferry, CT., and Bridgette S.L. Proper of Schenectady, Lindy-Ann and Jennifer E. Marcel both of Brooklyn; 3 great grandchildren: Mateo Miller, Alex and Wesley Proper, and many loving nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by 2 brothers: Jack and Harold Wilsey.

Her Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 3rd at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home where friends may call on Sunday 2:00 – 4:00 PM.  

Interment will take place at the Copake Cemetery in the hamlet.
