Dorothy G. (Marshall) Miller

Canaan, CT – Dorothy G. Miller, 89, a resident of Pine Plains, NY passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018 in Canaan, CT.

She was born on March 5, 1929 in Jersey City, NJ the daughter of Ernest and Ethel (Wiese) Marshall Sr.

Mrs. Miller was a graduate of the Pine Plains Central School class of 1948.

She was Production Manager for the Pine Plains Shirt Factory and the coat factory in Red Hook, NY. In later years she was a CNA at Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck, NY.

She was chairwoman of the worship committee, a Deacon and Elder of the First United Presbyterian Church in Pine Plains. She taught sewing for adult education, enjoyed playing cards, and was a member of the Pine Plains Grange. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren.  

On January 1, 1949 at the First United Presbyterian Church, Pine Plains, NY, she married Darwin Miller. He predeceased her on February 7, 2014.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol Miller and her husband, Craig Shelley of Pine Plains, NY; Caren Bunce and her husband Richard of Canaan, CT; a brother, Frederick Marshall of Millbrook, NY; three grandchildren, Christa Miller-Shelley, Jesse Bunce and Kim Provo and Ashton Bunce and her husband Connor Parrish.

She was predeceased by a brother Ernest Marshall Jr.

          Calling hours and interment will be private.

Funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the First United Presbyterian Church, 3039 Rte. 199 Pine Plains, NY. 

A reception will follow at Lia’s Mountain View Restaurant.
