Dexter Hathaway II Obituary

Dexter A Hathaway II passed away peacefully on March 18th 2018 at Pine Haven Nursing Home in Philmont.

 

He was born October 3rd 1926 in Proctor, Vermont. The son of Dexter A. Hathaway I

and Gertrude Burditt. He was raised on a Dairy farm and grew up to run Dairy Farms in Conn., Vermont, Mass and New York. The last one was Valley View Farm in Copake NY. When Dexter finally decided it was time to slow down and “retire” he worked at the Price Chopper in Great Barrington.  He was also a greeter at Our Lady of Hope Church in Copake Falls for many years.

 

Though Dexter was an extremely hard worker and accomplished many things in his career, what brought him the most joy and pride was his family who he truly loved.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Nancy (McHenry) and daughters Anne & William Graney of Craryville, Linda and Jeff Ploof of Colchester VT, Susan Hathaway and Richard Bruno of Watervliet. Sons Dexter Hathaway III of Copake, Mark and Karen Hathaway of Hillsdale and Kevin Hathaway and Jay White of Atlanta Ga. Grandchildren Adam, Jason, Cassie, Ryan, Jacob, Carli, Brock, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother John his wife Reba and his brother Jim. Also a sister Dorothy and her husband Jerry, and sisters-in-law Audrey and Harriet.

 

He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Fred, Bob, Bill and sister Elizabeth, and his sister-in law Ruth.

 

The family would like to thank the staff at Pine Haven Nursing Home for their care and compassion in Dexter’s time of need.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday March 21 from 4 to 7 at Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 Route 22, Copake NY 12516.

Funeral Services will be at Our Lady of Hope Church in Copake Falls at 11:00 AM on March 22nd.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Hope Church, 8074 Route 22, Copake Falls NY 12517, or the charity of your choice.
