Anna A. (Svingala) Farrere

Anna Agnes Farrere, 94, of Hillsdale, N.Y. passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on April 30, 2019. 

She was born on January 18, 1925 in West Taghkanic, New York. She was the daughter of the late Marie and George Svingala. Besides  her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Albert Farrere on July 1, 2015 and her 10 brothers and sisters. Survivors include sons, Ronald and Philip of Hillsdale NY, Michael Sr. and wife Joanna Farrere of Canton MI, and daughter Carol of Kinderhook NY, two grandsons, Brian Farrere of Commack NY and Michael Farrere Jr of Canton MI, one great granddaughter, McKenna Farrere, of Hopewell Jct. NY as well as many nieces and nephews. 

Anna graduated from Hudson High School in 1943. During WWII, she worked in the Naval Yard as a ‘riveter’ and then at GE in Schenectady NY. She was a consummate homemaker. She also worked on the family farm and sold real estate for over 30 years in Columbia/Berkshire counties. 

In 1946, she married Albert and was married to him for 68 years. During her lifetime, she attended Our Lady of Hope Church, Copake Falls, NY. She enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, wildlife, the outdoors and her pets.  She loved spending time with her family and participating in family gatherings. Anna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours on Saturday May 4, 2019 at Our Lady of Hope Parish from 1PM-2PM followed by Mass at 2 PM, and interment in St. Bridget’s Cemetery.
